Building a balanced plate, without the rules

A balanced plate isn't about perfection. It's a flexible guide that helps meals feel satisfying and keeps energy steadier through the day.
Try filling about half your plate with vegetables or fruit, a quarter with a protein you enjoy — such as lentils, paneer, eggs, fish, or chicken — and a quarter with whole grains or starchy foods like brown rice, roti, or potatoes.
Add a little healthy fat, such as nuts, seeds, or olive oil, for flavour and fullness. Your plate can and should reflect your culture, your budget, and your taste.
If you'd like help adapting this to your own routine or health needs, a dietitian can personalise it with you.
